About Dr. Hulse

Annette Hulse, D.O. is an osteopathic physician; as such, her philosophy in all treatment is to look to the whole body for health and improved function. She specializes in osteopathic manual medicine, using a hands-on approach to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury. She treats patients of all ages from birth to geriatrics. In addition, Dr. Hulse works closely with several dentists in the Bay Area who treat TMJ dysfunction, sleep apnea, and airway problems, and some of whom provide ALF appliances. The breadth of her experience helps bridge the gap between osteopathy and ALF dentistry, and the depth of her medical training informs a holistic diagnosis and treatment process for all patients.
Dr. Hulse is an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Medicine in OMM for Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) in Vallejo CA. Dr. Hulse is a Past President (2019-2021) of the Osteopathic Cranial Academy (OCA), a national professional organization for physicians who practice osteopathic medicine. She is also on the teaching faculty for the OCA.
Dr. Hulse's introduction to osteopathy first came from her studies with Fritz Smith, D.O. learning his unique blend of osteopathic techniques and Chinese medicine concepts called Zero Balancing. Inspired by this, she left her management consulting career in Silicon Valley to attend Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. She has had a medical practice specializing in osteopathic manipulative medicine since 2012.
Dr. Hulse completed her internship in the UCSF-affiliated Internal Medicine program at Highland Hospital-Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland CA, after graduation from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo CA. She also holds a S.B. in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a M.S. in Engineering from Stanford University.
